A Victorian home

Yesterday our class went on a field trip to different museums. One of the things that caught my eye, was a completely preserved appartment from The Victorian era. Some of the pictures are a bit grainy, but it was a very dark place with drawn curtains and mostly dominated by an earthy, dark color palette: Burgundy, mustard, olive, brown and gold.

Chocolate & Strawberry Birthday Cake

500 grams sliced strawberries
½ litre cream
250 grams dark chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
The juice from ½ orange
Chocolate birthday cake base
Chocolate sprinkles

1. Melt the chocolate, add the orange juice, vanilla and let it cool. Remember to stir the chocolate mixture so it doesn't become lumpy.
2. Beat the cream until the point where it almost becomes whipped cream, add the chocolate mixture and keep beating until you have chocolate whipped cream.
3. Here in Denmark you get birthday cake base in a package with three layers - that's what I used for my cake.
You take a layer, spread out the chocolate whipped cream, spread out some of the slices strawberries, put another layer on top, spread another layer of chocolate whipped cream, add the last layer, spread chocolate whipped cream all over the cake - the sides and the top. Lastly you decorate with slices strawberries and chocolate sprinkles.
Et voilĂ !

Birthday in the summer house

We spent this weekend in my family in law's sommer house, to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Even all our three cats where with us. I spent a lot of time eating according to my new "diet" (not trying to lose weight, but aiming to build muscle - and that means I'm eating A LOT) and training. I also made my famous chocolate and strawberry birthday cake - I'll include a recipe later.
Aaaaand I bought some cute socks with cat faces and blue headphones!

Daily Life: Recap

New years eve
The day was celebrated at Ida & Soerens place. We had salmon soup, marinated elk and forest berry pie. We drank a lot, some of us went partying at Rollespilsfabrikken and danced the night away.

January
Quiet month sweetened by cats and a visit from Sara Butterfly.

February
Drinking and getting ready for 80's Night at the goth club Faust. More dancing. Hell-of-a-lot-more! I had to take my shoes of on my way home, because my feet where aching so. It's bloody cold in Denmark during winter too, so I had to run all the way on only stocking clad feet.

March
Kamilla and Peter got hitched! Awwww.

Children of Men (2006)

I watched a pretty good movie last night: Children of Men.

The year is 2027 and societies are falling apart because people for unknown reasons, can no longer procreate. A former activist is called upon to help the first pregnant woman in 18 years. Her life is in danger, because she is an illegal immigrant and can't trust the people around her...
